I. Call Meeting to Order
Rationale:
Schuyler Community Schools in partnership with parents, students, and the community will challenge and inspire students to be lifelong learners - District Mission Statement
Notice of this meeting was given in advance according to State Law 84-1411, by giving notice of the meeting to the public. Notice of this meeting was also given in advance to all members of the Board of Education
Discussion:
Special meeting called to order by Superintendent Stevens. Also present were Principal Baumert and Assistant Principal Cunningham.

I.A. Declaration of Open Meeting
Rationale:
This meeting has been preceded by advance notice and is hereby declared to be in open session. A copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the hallway outside the Media Center.
Discussion:
Notice of this meeting was given in advance by giving notice to the public. Notice of this meeting was also given in advance to all members of the Board of Education.

II.A. Discuss, consider and take action on the resignation of Jesse Harmon.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to accept the resignation of Jesse Harmon effective immediately. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

Discussion:
The resignation of Jesse Harmon is effective immediately. Announcement of the resignation was provided to the staffs of SES, SMS and SCHS by administrators of SCHS. Employment of a long-term substitute for the remainder of 2010-2011 vs. hiring of a new teacher was discussed. It was decided to hire a long-term substitute which would offer the least disruption to the education of students.

Discussion:
The meeting to view preliminary drawings for the addition at SES has been moved to February 10, 2011 at 6:30 PM .

III.A.3. Input on the color of the SMS metal, sloped roof
Discussion:
Superintendent Stevens provided two colored samples of the metal roof that will be installed on SMS. The Board was asked for their preferences. There is no cost difference in the two.

III.A.4. Screening of High School Principal candidates this week. Possible interviews late this week and next week.
Discussion:
At the present time, twenty-six applications have been received for the position of principal at SCHS. The screening process will narrow the field down to six candidates and interviews will begin the week of January 31.
