I. August Meeting
Rationale:
SCHUYLER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION MEETING 08/05/13 @ 12 NOON – 1:00 P.M. @ SCHUYLER CHAMBER OFFICE Membership: Lumir Jedlicka-Treasurer, Brian Vavricek- President, Virginia Semerad, Clinton Parr- Secretary, Sandy Seckman- Vice President, Victor Lopez, and Dan Hoesing Guests – Lora Johnson – Chamber Executive Director -Joyce Baumert – Performing Arts consultant – 402-352-5324 –mandjbaumert@gmail.com – possible member -Kem Cavanah – Economic Development Executive Director -Shelley Friesz – sfriesz@esu7.org – 402-352-3527 Ext 216 – Foundation Assistant -Sheri Balak – sheribalak@hotmail.com – Alumni Honors consultant Absent: Vision: To support the enrichment of educational programs and student life experiences Goals: -To promote education in Schuyler Community Schools -Additional giving of $100,000 by August 31st, 2013 Secretary Report/Minutes – Review and Approve (refer minutes e-mailed by Shelley Friesz – July 1, 2013) Treasurer’s Report – unofficial total balance $115,037 · Check to Morgan Semerad for Pepsi/Foundation Scholarship for $1,000.00 · Check to Mitchell Heavican for Pepsi/Foundation Scholarship for $1,000.00 Request from Joyce Beiber Class of 1964 for contribution for their 50th Class Reunion to be held in 2014 for $ for postage etc. 2013/2014 Teacher in service time to speak to staff on August 7th at 10:20 to 10:40 am Committee Reports:

Minutes from Meeting August 5, 2013 at Schuyler Chamber office
Brian called the meeting to order
Members present: Lumir, Brian, Dan, Virginia
Members absent: Sandy, Victor and Clinton
Others present: Sheri, Joyce, Lora, Kem and Shelley
Secretary report and minutes from July approved by Brian
Treasurer’s report approved
New business:
Motion failed to contribute money for postage for the 2014 50 year class reunion request
• Kem spoke that there are 3 locations to post information regarding class reunions
• Sheri Balak said she would contact Joyce Beiber from the Class of 1964 to let her know what the decision was
• Possibly have a spokes person from the foundation speak to the class at the reunion to let them know about the foundation
• Kem talked about Alumni website is very secure doesn’t give out e-mail addresses. At the
2013/2014 teacher inservice day on August 7th 10:20- 10:40 am
• Lumir and Brian to speak to staff
• Dan and Shelley to work on power point to be presented
• Will set up time for Sandy and Lumir and possibly Brian to look at photos to be put into a DVD to be shown at the Labor Day dance.
Committee Reports:
Labor Day Committee:
• Brian spoke things were set up for the alumni dance
• Needed volunteers from the foundation to work at the dance, got response from Lumir, Virginia, Dan and Brian and spouses would be there
• Basketball tourney not happening
• Volleyball tourney all set up.
• Tours if anyone wants a tour to call and schedule with Shelley. At this time no tours have been set up.
• Talked about having staff member and foundation member to give the tour
• Have their class picture sitting on an easel at the school
Labor Day float:
• Vote taken for Virginia and Lumir to be in charge of the float
• Get the flatbed from Virginia, decorations and cost to be determined
• Have the scholarship winners and outstanding educators and para educators ride on the float
• Lumir will get in contact with them, Shelley to give him a contact sheet
• Banner contact Quentin Nelson to possibly have a new one made
• Welcome sign that Ronnie Mundil has already.
Scholarship Committee: Nothing new to report
Education Committee: Nothing new to report
Fine Arts Center Committee:
• Still working with School in regards to developing the budget
• Budget workshop to follow the board meeting in August
• Budget committee meeting on August 8th
Schuyler Community Schools Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award Committee:
• Presentation given by Sheri Balak and Joyce Baumert
• Gave an informational sheet regarding the award (purpose, criteria, nominations, selection committee, awards presentation and funding)
• Motion to accept the presentation by Lumir and 2nd by Virginia
• Motion passed by all members
