II. COVID-19 Update
Rationale:
1. COVID-19 Update: I met with our school nurses yesterday to discuss our response to the recent spread of COVID 19 across the district. We agreed in our meeting that we would move our schools to ORANGE response protocols. Below is a summary of the changes from yellow to orange.
COVID OPERATIONAL ZONE—ORANGE ---Nov 9, 2020 Summary of changes for SCS: Temperature Checks: Twice daily am and BEFORE lunch-Students and Staff Physical Education Mask 100% of the time. Keep strenuous activity at lower level to ensure mask use. Disinfecting of school buildings Increase disinfection procedures by custodial AND all Staff Lunch: Will continue to be in cafeteria /gym zones with tables a MINIMUM of 6 ft apart Elementary Recess: Wear masks at all times. Separate recess times as much possible Social Distancing: Maintain Individual Social Distancing (6' where possible). STAFF ILLNESS: Initial COVID symptoms may be very mild. CONTACT your nurse with ANY symptoms to ensure the safety of our school community! See attached operational zones for more detail 2. NEW Directed Health Measure (DHM): We learned this morning that our health departments will be moving to a new DHM (Red for Colfax and Platte). However, the CDC, Governor Rickets, and our local health departments are still of the belief that schools are the safest places for our students so they are not supporting the shutting down of schools at this time. We should receive the new DHM over the weekend with more guidance for schools. I do know that we will be returning to the previous guidelines for COVID-19 symptoms protocol. The new DHM will return to the previous DHM (the one we are currently using). However, there may be additional considerations. 3. School Building Disinfecting: We are putting custodial staff on this weekend to disinfect our buildings. Thank you for doing your part to make sure your classroom, offices, etc... are cleaned up and surfaces cleared off so they can get into your room to disinfect.

III. Strategic Planning
Rationale:
1. October PD Week: After much discussion, the administration proposed a week of professional development for our staff. The decision was based on the following priorities listed below: a. Commitments in our funding (grants) to professional development in our district. b. Shortage of substitute teachers to cover for staff involved in these required trainings. c. Provide additional training and tech support if our school day/year is altered due to DHM requirements. d. Provide time for our custodial staff to clean and disinfect following parent-teacher conferences. e. Break for teachers/staff who have taken on the additional work/stress of front-line work during this pandemic. 2. 1st Thoughtexchange: The strategic planning committee released a thoughtexchange last Friday to get your input on the professional development week. Please take the time to go in and offer your thoughts and/or rate others thoughts on the value of these workshops. This exchange will close at 6:00 today. 3. 2nd Thoughtexchange: The second thoughtexchange will open this afternoon and will close next Friday. We will be recommending a two-day workshop to complete APL for new teachers and provide additional training and support for our teachers and support staff. Your responses will help us in planning or this event in January. 4. 2020 Strategic Plan Draft Report: Attached below is the 2020 "draft" report. The goal of this report is to communicate our progress in addressing priorities for 2020. We did our best to fairly reflect those action items completed during 2020. If you know of any items or have questions concerning any of the listed completed action items, please let your building principal know so that your items can be added to the report.
