I. Discussion Items
Rationale:
1. Finance Report: See Attached.
2. Requisitions: The ESU Coop orders are due on Friday April 4th. This is the first round of purchasing of supplies, furniture, and equipment. The office at each building has compiled a list of general supplies for each building that they will keep in stock throughout the school year. We will also review the requests from staff and determine if there is a common item that should be included in their supply closet inventory. The second round of textbooks, furniture, and equipment will be released the first week in April and due Monday, May 5th for items not available from the ESU competitive buy. 3. Inventory: All staff will be required to compile and submit an inventory of books, supplies, furniture and equipment in their classrooms and/or offices. The past inventories were submitted in a spreadsheet, word document, pdf's etc... and with no common format. We will be able to import staff inventories from a spreadsheet into the new system, but those from other formats will have to be re-entered by staff. These will be due prior to staff checkout in May. 4. Teacher Contracts: Teachers will be receiving their 2014-15 Contracts on Friday, March 28th. These will be due on Friday, April 11th. The board will meet on Monday to approve returning teacher contracts and any new hires recommended at this time. 5. Interviews: The building principals are in the process of recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates for open teaching positions in their buildings. You can review the SAA meetings to see the positions they are working on filling each week. The principals have been asked to review all candidates for each open position before making any current staff assignment changes and place the "best fit" into each position. 6. Strategic Planning: The board committees have begun meeting on prioritizing their focus on our strategic planning process. Academics, Extra-Curricular, Transportation, and Support Programs committees met last week, and Technology, Building and Grounds, Governance and Administration, and School Climate will meet this week. Your building principals will be working within each of your buildings to begin building action plans for each building according to the board's priority. 7. District Grants: We are finalists in two major grants. We interviewed last week as a finalist for a 1.5 million dollar 21st Century Grant. This 5-year grant would allow us to provide extended day and extended year services to students in grades K-8. We also interviewed as a finalist for a 2 million dollar School Improvement Grant for the Middle School. We will be notified by April 8th if we are selected and awarded the grants by the State Board of Education. |
