I. Discussion Items
Rationale:
1. Teacher Observation Schedule: Building principals and Activities Directors, please complete your August observation logs reflecting the teachers and coaches you observed in August. Your September observation schedules are due on Tuesday, September 2nd.
2. Monthly Program Meeting Schedule: Dr. Hoesing will distribute the September meeting schedule for approval at the meeting. Please bring your calendars to make sure we avoid as many conflicts as possible. 3. Friday Substitute Teacher Pay: Our regular substitute teacher pay for a full day is $125. 1:30 Friday dismissal will be paid at $100 per day. Substitute teachers will be dismissed at 1:30 with students on Fridays. 4. Bus Program: We will begin the before and after school bus program after Labor Day. Elementary and Pre-school children riding the bus must be signed up prior to riding. We will discuss any other logistics at the meeting. Robin Burton passed his bus test on Monday!!! Give him an "Atta Boy"! 5. Student Fees: Attached are the student fees forms we are using for the 2014-15 school year. All fees must be approved by the supervising administrator and posted for waiver request if "required". 6. Preschool Opening: We are delaying the start of the preschool program until Monday, September 8th. They will begin moving the classrooms this week and have next week to finalize their classrooms. 7. Behavior Programs: Our focus for behavior this school year is "if you want it, teach it"! Nothing in the handbook that outlines protocol for the administrative management of behavior has changed. Mainly, because we had nothing to change it to. We also agreed, that our focus as an administrative team was to support teachers in classroom management and teaching student behavior. In theory is sounds great, in practice it is even better! Schools who have successfully made this change have seen a decrease in student/staff aggression, an increase in staff morale, increased confidence in staff members to take charge in their classrooms, and eventually, increased student performance. While this is a K-12 program, our focus is at the middle and high school levels during the first semester of the 2014-15 school year. If we need handbook changes at semester to allow you to fully implement the program, I would be more than happy to present your successes and recommendations to the board of education at that time. 8. Professional Development Activities: Please make sure you update your teacher professional development folders in your office. Remind all teachers that hours taken for advancement must be submitted to Marlene on or before September 10th. We will work through professional development priorities for the month of September. Dave Gibbons will demonstrate the professional development video site and make sure you can access the videos.
