September 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM - Alternative Education Meeting

Rationale:  1.  Finance:  See Attached Reports.

2.  Academic Programs:  We discussed the academic programs in place for the first semester.  Mike Goos has been working with students in the program to develop social/emotional behaviors and skills.  We discussed the possibility of adding a counseling class under "Health" to give students credit for participating in this program.

3.  Transportation Program:  We discussed the current program and possible issues with too many students riding or behavior management on the van.  It was decided that we would offer mileage to our middle school parents to bring those students to class.  If they are willing, we would be willing to pay mileage by the quarter.  10 miles per round trip at the current district rate.

4.  Enrollment/Staffing:  Staffing seems to be adequate to support learning for the 12 students currently enrolled.

5.  Student Management:  We visited about behavior management and the possible need to get the county attorney and/or truant officer involved with students who refuse to comply with school rules and/or staff requests.  Mr. Gibbons, Mr. Kovar and Mr. Reinsch were to set up a time with the county attorney to discuss options for their support.
