1. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance

Discussion:

Board President Desh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Board President Desh led the board members and patrons in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2. Announcement of the Open Meetings Act Posting

Discussion:

Board President Desh identified the location of the updated Open Meetings Act Poster on the wall in the meeting room.

3. Staff and Student Presentations

Discussion:

Ms. Walter and Mrs. Linke highlighted a basic understanding of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework, identified how the MTSS and Student Assistance Team (SAT) processes can positively impact student achievement data, and summarized the various tiers of interventions utilized to support student academic and behavioral needs.
Special thanks to Ms. Walter and Mrs. Linke for sharing their knowledge and experience in these areas.

6.1.1. General Election Updates from November 8th, 2022

Discussion:

Special welcome to our newest board member: Mrs. Dee Moore.
- Mrs. Moore will officially join the board on Monday, January 9, 2023.
Congratulations to Mr. Dean Busch for his successful re-election to the Board of Education.
Congratulations to Mr. Josh Penterman for his successful re-election to the Board of Education.
Special thanks to Mr. Clayton Maahs for his service to the board. Mr. Maahs' last board meeting will be Monday, December 12th, 2022.
Special thanks also to all of our community patrons who voted in the latest election on November 8th!

6.1.2. Superintendent Evaluation Update

Discussion:

Board President Desh summarized the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) superintendent evaluation document, reviewed the evaluation process and current timeline, and reminded board members to fill out their digital superintendent evaluation document.
More information about the superintendent's evaluation will be discussed at the Monday, December 12th, 2022 regular board meeting.

6.1.3. Student Enrollment Update

Discussion:

The latest student enrollment update is attached to this agenda item.
The current district enrollment is 713 students (Pre-K- 12). This is a 52-student (or 7.8%) enrollment increase from the end of last school year.

6.2. Administrative Team Report

Discussion:

Mr. Johnson (Palmyra High School Principal) and Ms. Walter (Bennet Elementary School Principal) shared information contained within the attached admin report.
Report items included fall activity updates, winter activities preview, school improvement process update, and recent student field trips and community activities.

Discussion:

Mr. Johnson summarized highlights and recommendations from the annual School Safety Audit conducted at both buildings by Lang Consulting on Friday, November 4th.
This safety audit is an annual state requirement from NDE.

7.1. Negotiations Update

Discussion:

Members voted to schedule a Negotiations Committee Meeting on Wednesday, December 15th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Bennet Elementary School.
Committee members include Josh Penterman, Brandon Desh, and Jaimi Calfee.
Salary arrays will be distributed prior to the committee meeting to assist with compensation comparisons for the various employee groups.

7.4. District Activities Committee Update

Discussion:

Mr. Johnson and the District Activity Committee members highlighted designated items from the district activity meeting held on Wednesday, November 9th at Palmyra High School.

8.1. 6000 and 7000 Series Policies

Discussion:

Committee members summarized highlights from the Policy Committee Zoom meeting held on Thursday, October 27th, 2022.
No substantive changes to the 6000 or 7000 Series were recommended.
