Discussion:
Sgt. Chad Menagh informed the Committee that this proposal has a revised quote, bringing down the cost. It is a budgeted item that has been looked into for a long time and will provide extra security for the Crete Police Station.

3.B. Provide a recommendation to the City Council on amending parking regulations on the northeast corner of 13th and Norman Avenue.
Discussion:
City Administrator Tom Ourada reported that at a previous meeting, it was decided to try 'Compact Car Only' parking in that first parking spot. As shown by the pictures provided, it did not account for van parking, which also hinders the driver's view while attempting to turn onto 13th Street. After much discussion, the Committee did not see any other way to ensure people's safety apart from making the spot 'No Parking'.

3.C. Provide a recommendation to the City Council on approving the Police Department to apply for an NDOT Highway Safety mini-grant for the campaign, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over".
Discussion:
City Administrator Tom Ourada asked the Committee if they liked seeing these mini-grants each time they come up or whether they felt it was necessary to approve the Police Department to apply for all of them. Police Chief Steve Hensel added that the mini-grants are all the same grants, but with different titles; "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Click It or Ticket," etc. Chief Hensel also brought up the idea of approving them at a different level, whether it's the Mayor, City Administrator, or whomever. Since this grant is on the agenda, it must be voted on anyway, but the Committee will ponder the initial inquiry for future meetings.

3.D. Discuss amending fireworks regulations.
Discussion:
The Committee discussed different reasons why the dates and times that fireworks may be sold and discharged should be amended. It seems to be the general consensus that whether they can be sold for 4 or 7 days, they sell about the same amount of fireworks but have increased labor costs, which is a loss for the fireworks vendors. It was also proposed to make the selling hours different than the discharge hours. When people purchase fireworks at 11:55 p.m. and can only discharge until 12:00 a.m., it increases the likelihood that fireworks will be discharged after the hours stated. This will be discussed at the next committee and council meeting for action to be taken.
