3.A. Blue Valley Cemetery washed out area
Discussion:
Despite the addition of rock, washout continues to be a concern at the Blue Valley Cemetery. According to City Administrator Tom Ourada the road is going to be graded this week, which may help with the washout.

Discussion:
The public may not be aware of the GIS website, which would enable them to locate grave sites. 

Board member Pam Busboom moved that Ourada contact the Crete News about doing an article on the GIS website. Board member Linda Unger seconded the motion. All the board members in attendance voted yes.

3.C. Vice Chair/ Treasurer 
Discussion:
President Stastny brought up that there was no one to conduct the meting if she was absent. 
Board member Shestak moved that the secretary conduct the meeting in the absence of the president. Board member Jim Homan seconded the motion. All the board members in attendance voted yes.

3.D. Maintenance of Cemetery 
Discussion:
City Administrator Tom Ourada stated that a person has been hired to help Cemetery Sexton Jason Dunham this summer.

3.E. Columbarium doors 
Discussion:
The format for the Columbarium doors is to have the surname located at the top with the individual's name and year of birth and death below. 
City Administrator Tom Ourada stated that the City will pay Speidell Monuements to replace any doors which are not in this format. 

Busboom moved that all columbarum doors follow the same format and those that don't be replaced. Homan seconded the motion. All the board members in attendance voted yes.

Rationale:
  • Reports may be given by the Mayor, Officers, Departments, or Councilmembers concerning the current operations of the City.
  • No action can be taken on matters presented under this title except to answer any questions or to refer the matter for further action.
Discussion:
Shestak reported that he and President Stastny met with Terri Brown and Jodie Schlacke, who live on properties adjoining the Blue Valley Cemetery, and expressed the following concerns: washout, tree stumps, pillars at the entrance need to be rerouted, trash cans need to be emptied more regularly, hunting, poaching, fireworks tabing place. 

City Administrator Tom Ourada stated that illegal activities can be reported to the Saline County Sheriff's Office. Since this property belongs tot he CIty, it can be posted. It would be better to grind the tree stumps than remove them so that they won't disturb any graves. 

Due to Memorial Day Holiday, the next meeting will be May 20th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
