V.A. Approve Purchase Agreement with Boosters regarding the Scoreboard Project
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
We have been coordinating closely with Rich Samuelson and Coady Pruitt (KSB) to put an agreement together that outlines our intentions over the next 5-7 years to get the scoreboard project paid for. Our discussions led us to the realization that we aren't looking for a way to hold the Boosters accountable if things don't go according to plans, but instead a clear understanding of what that plan actually is. The plan will be attached when Coady finalizes.

|
VI.A. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

VI.A.a. KSB Policy Service
Agenda Item Type:
Information Item
Rationale:
Coady and KSB Law are happy to allow an invoice over 2 budget years to pay for the complete renewal of the policy service that we approved in April. While you can choose to activate the policies as they are presented immediately, you can also choose to review each one and make comparisons between them as you go along. With a transition occurring pretty soon to a new superintendent, my recommendation will be to just accept them as they are presented to us by KSB, which will guarantee that we are covered on all issues regarding liability or school responsibility/accountability. Then, as Patrick coordinates with the principals on policies that are reviewed each year or are applicable to NBC specifically (Option Enrollment would be a good example), they can recommend any changes as you go. I also reminded Coady that we needed to finalize a transportation policy regarding the issue that came up last year.
|
VI.A.b. Culture/Needs Assessment Survey

Rationale:
At our recent workshop, this topic came up for discussion regarding next steps. Doug and I have placed this on the agenda for discussion about any actions you may want to take before Patrick has boots on the ground in July.

VI.A.d. Technology 5-year plan update
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
Jim has done a wonderful job keeping me updated on the technology needs of the district as identified in the 5-year plan that was created a few years back. I asked if he could update the plan with projections that might better reflect any changes that might be needed or increases in budgeting requirements. He is planning on attending the meeting for a brief presentation and will be happy to answer questions.

VI.A.e. Safety Audit
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
Kevin Kavan was did our required NDE Safety Audit on April 27th. I was very impressed with Kevin and his experience working on matters that are focused on making schools safer. He identified several things that need to be considered in the future, some that may require an investment of resources. I will leave those decisions to Patrick as he comes into leadership. I have attached the reports for both buildings.

Many 11th graders will be eligible for an ACT waiver incentive, which will allow them to opt out of some semester tests based on their preparation, writing score, and work ethic during the State ACT test in April. VI.B.d. School Information Changes - Infinite Campus
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
With the creation of the NBC Middle School, we created a separate "building" in our Learning Management System (Infinite Campus). In 2019/20, we were notified that we needed to move our 8th grade back into the "Middle School Building" as they were listed under the high school due to the schedule that was created. Obviously, Covid stopped everything and the move was not made and the request was forgotten about. At the start of this school year, the Department of Education asked that we have the correct grade levels (6th-8th and 9th-12th) for this school year. This is not a simple fix as you have to reclassify almost every teacher in the building, class offered, grades, attendance and student schedules. As we were already into the school year, we were very nervous trying to change all this information without losing any data. We contacted the Department of Education, and with Dr. Bodlt's assistance received an extension until the 23-24 school year. Mr. Cody has been busy building the new school year and repopulating it with all the needed information. Mrs. Gaughen will now be scheduled with the new grade level classification, but as we are still in the transition, the process will be paper/pencil and then manually transferred into Infinite Campus of the summer.
