4. Curriculum Review - Family Consumer Science

Jan Smaus and Dawn Ruzika.
Still sewing and cooking and have taken it even further. Shared handout. Shared the purpose, big emphasis on health.
Handout to also give the direction. Powerpoint showing CPR, Sewing Ipad use, dairy vegtables, cooking, sewing, computers, food presentation, child care, parenting skills.
Pro start - Foods 3 and 4 1 nutirion and garnishment. Go to competitions and next year it will be block course 90 minutes. Metro College in Omaha has competions, chilli and they will go. Will also learn about sanitation standards.

5. Summer Projects

Breakdown of what they are looking at for cost some are firm and some are estimates.
Admin Bldg
Insulation no wall insulated. Will have it spray foam from floor up to roof deck. Outside walls only.
High School
Parking lot - seal coat over entire parking lot and striping. Some work also at Stoddard. All parking lots all building cracks sealed.
Carpet - Start every year to replace some. We will use carpet tiles where we can 5,000 to 6,000 square feet each year. Be done in a few years
Painting - Art room, weight room hallways and gym

6. Pre-K Services

Handouts -
Shared things that have done, changes made and challenged. Learn through play collaboration with our preschool and headstart. Accept all kids.
2 sites to Cedar and Paddock Lane. 8 sessions
4 BPS teachers BPS Para and Headstart in each room
Nutrition para at each site, speech path, physical and occupational.
Huge turn over and huge waiting list serve 127 53 3 and 74 4 year olds. 80% Free Reduced 20% Special
Class make up morning did age grouping in the afternoon classes we had mixed grouping. Staff got to see both types.

Had a start up grant and continuation grant
Follow Rule 11 and Sped Rules - Collaborate with Headstart rules.
Use curriculum and assessment called Gold
Ecers-R and Class are evaluation programs
Also had staff post their learning goals so the students begin to see as they are use K-12.
Lots of play use Zoo Phonic, litercey, using language close the vocab gap.
Curriculum - Gold(State Approved)- 6 units and next year will add 3 more units.

Next year we have a curriculum for 3 year olds
and new for 4 year olds.
Teambuilding and reviewed Ecers-r. 38 standards
Visual representation to show what kids are doing.
Reviewing our language development. Class is huge as watch kids talk and hearing.
Partnership with headstart is even better.
Parent involvement - Parent Advisory that meet 4 times a year. Preschool PTA. It is on the calendar and we will activities for kids. Learning targets are being created by family advocate and taking them into the home, by supporting the parents at home. Simple ideas to have parents help students learn at home. Parents must come into the building to drop off and pick up. Staff have 2 home visits and conferences. Created a facebook page for preschool.
Know it is working by tracking the 64 kids that are here a second year. Can see data in chart that there is growth. Learning procedures like how to stand in line. Parent survey 26 family returned very positive. This helps us enhance our program.
Next year enrollments are up. 61 3 and 64 4. We have a wait list. 28 will be special

Yearly we review this report and look at activities we use K-12. Look at this because we live in a global society and make sure we give the students the tools they need.
