1. Call to Order
Discussion:  Mr. Zimmerman called the meeting to order in the Central Administration Boardroom. At the beginning of the meeting, the chairperson announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act was posted on the west wall of the meeting room. Attendance was taken at 7:00 PM.

3. Professional Development
Speaker(s):  Mrs. Nielsen
Discussion:  Mrs. Nielsen Look at professional development for the year. Shared month by month review. Start with reading training at elementary. At MS and HS look at gradual release of responsibility and common instructional language, assessment training and technology to instruct. This is a tool and not the whole curriculum help teachers see where they can see more. Sept Training for MAP. Grades 345 more writing training. October - All Data Retreat - Building our School Improvement Plan. January - All MAP training - Using the Learning Continum Feb PK - 2 Writring March - All Vocabulary Instruction All year 6-12 Math Coaching in Classrom All Marzano Framework for instructions is and work with school improvement teams. 2014-15 is end of calendar year. We will look at Plc times and what we will be doing this will be a discussion time. PLC are a great tool and are really helping professional development. Gives time to educate staff time to collaborate. Still need time to build PLC better. It much more functional. Boystown -- Jon where are we at and what are we doing. Train HS and Ms in August. New teachers will be trained during a day pull out for subs. Do quarterly observations. Educate students on social skills. One more thing to infuse in PLC refresher training. In fall para will be getting more training. Some students think this is a joke. So why and students responded sometimes we forget and some may not have social skills. May make me a better person everyday. The understand the reason why, but maybe not 100% buy in. Steve why did it go away - Doris - MS was not a part of it. Did it in elementary not ms and then in at HS. Needed consistency. We did not follow through, which we did not do then, but has observed the consistency.
4. Grading Update

Discussion:  See Handout 90% grade summative and 10% formative. Many questions about this. Developed grading committee how to add some behavior exceptions rubric. Will add 4 for a total of 5 grades. Knowledge grade, The behavior in 4 categories. All Satisfactory by default. Currently draft and will be sharing with business to make sure it prepares students for career-college readiness. This will allow parents to see behavior but it will not be part of the knowledge grade. Allow parents to missing assignments. Will be under the grade tab in portal to see.
5. Summer Projects Update

Discussion:  Mr. Brazell Hs - complete patch and seal of lot and would be striped today;. Removed bushes out of island and replaced with river rock. Carpet 3 rooms band, music and library. all done by end of July. Skylight leak has been repaired and repairing damage. Will be painting hallways before school starts. Painting gym hope to do but gym schedule might push to Decembers. Stage floor Masonite replaced paint black. sand down maple and paint black. Will now all be black. Stadium - Concerns with shot put area - red shale. Wind is now blowing it all over into turf. This is causing the turf to get harder. Met with Nemeha. We will have all the rubber north end zone replace back in the turn Red shale will go away be replaced with limestone. Cannot do this until the company can put the rubber back. Hope to have by football time, but may not. Received donation Kaufmman Foundation sign of press box House of Orange much like lights on High School. This will be done before football. Ms replace 6th grade room with metal start last week done in about 3 weeks. Replace ac for the office and will be ordered and installed. Elementary Stoddard patch parking - done. Preschool taking out storage area to make the classroom larger. Will also replace flooring. Cleaned out the basement of the preschool. Central Office - Will blow exterior insulation on Friday. Storm damage - worked with adjuster here. PL tree damaged handicap van window cracked at about $1,000. East wall of metal building about 12 feet bowed out. This was fixed by our staff. Cedar lost main switch for phones repaired. HS bent goal post on practice field. Fence damaged. Pole vault and mat were blown out into field between 8,000 to 15,000. Expenses must be over 25,000. 21st annual auction - This went well, but not totals yet.
6. Policy Update

Discussion:  Mr. Nauroth # of policies coming in July meeting. Minor changes. Perry Law Firm we work with them and NASB. When look at policies for BPS most follow Perry Law Firm an policy update with e-cigarettes. 1120 (4065)and 5105 (5560). Just add dealing with e-vapor products. Construction -Amend 80,000 to 100,000(3530)dont need an architect. Attendance (5120)talks about changes to attendance policy. Review this policy annually, show sample to county attorney. Have committee looking with this policy and working with county attorney. Have to have parent and student collaboation.t Middle School course work at HS level get credit. We do not give the HS credit for it now. We don't want them to say already taken want them to take 3 years at HS. Will not update at this time. School Wellness no policy update. Regulation is pending. Will have a wellness committee. Safe Pupil Transp Plan - Amended. Even drop off point is not safe what to do. (3510.2) Will be updated. Academic Standards - Will not be updated at this time. Concussions - Establish a return to learn will update (6283)15-16 school will have to have training for suicide prevention. New policy - MS sports has to be eligibility rule for 7th and 8th graders. We have procedures but not policy. Sup Pay Transparency - No policy shared when thing must be out. Have info to State by August 1 LB 970 - prohibit criminal history need change applications. 9110 - Number of Board member and fill vacant seats. Suggestion of policy from Rex. Not much different than ours. We will need to adjust. Problem AR interpretation Do away with regulation. It is not required to have an AR. Just update policy and regulation goes away is his recommendation. Board had lots of discussion. Can we say just follow current stat statute. Pat - Adjust the policy and and get rid of AR. Many of the thing in the AR are not in statute. If we go with policy it let board determine how what wiwe choose to do. Lisa comfortable with Rex and Pat's recommendation. Pat Policy vs Reg - Policy comes for Board and AR comes from administration. AR 5220 Grad Requirements. One change item g. a requirement 1 quarter of career ed and 1 quarter financial litercey will go into affect with years freshmen. Mr. Brinkman and Mrs. Gronewold will teach these.
