Discussion:
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick extended his thanks to Director of Facilities Travis Rickey and his team, Director of IT David Davis and his team, as well as Director of Safety and Security James Todd and his team for the work they accomplished in modernizing the Lincoln Heights Elementary building over the course of this summer. In addition to the Lincoln Heights project, other projects across the District were completed as well, including the Bluffs Middle School parking lot, the renovation of restrooms at Longfellow Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary, the Roosevelt Elementary servery project, as well as the installation of three elementary playgrounds. Dr. Dick noted this was a very busy summer, but all projects were completed on time, and as a result of the tremendous amount of work inside and outside of these District buildings, both the learning and the teaching environments will be improved. He again extended thanks to the staff and supervisors for their hard hard work.
Dr. Dick commented that despite the current educator shortage, the District is fully staffed, with the exception of very few certified, specialized positions. Dr. Dick thanked the principals and the business team for their work in hiring, as well as Director of Communications Melissa Price for her work in advertising. He noted it was a team effort to ensure all positions were staffed prior to the start of the year. Dr. Dick concluded by thanking Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Mike Mason for organizing the new teacher orientation schedule and all trainings for staff. The work led by Mike to prepare new staff as well as existing staff was essential in preparing to welcome back students on August 17th. |
