Discussion:
Dr. Andrew Dick extended his appreciation to Colonel Jeffrey Johnson for his dedication to the Air Force JROTC program at Scottsbluff High School. Dr. Dick also congratulated recently elected Board members Ralph Paez and Tory Schwartz. Dr. Dick commented that the current educator shortage is not something the SBPS administration is taking lightly, but is instead addressing the issue with solutions such as the student teacher stipend, the college credit program, and the hiring bonus. Dr. Dick stated the focus of administration is recruitment of new staff, but also retention of current staff. Dr. Dick thanked the Board of Education for their support of the strategies being implemented to address the educator shortage.
