Discussion:
Scottsbluff High School senior Elizabeth Roberts reported the past month has been very successful. Elizabeth reported both the boys basketball and the girls basketball teams won district championships. Educators Rising students who qualified will compete at the National Conference, ProStart students qualified for the National ProStart Invitational, and DECA students will be attending the state competition. Upcoming SHS events include the commencement of spring sports, prom, the AFJROTC Military Ball, a digital citizenship presentation, and ACT/PSAT testing.

Discussion:
Paul Snyder stated the highlight of serving on the Board is seeing so many SBPS students achieve so much success. Scott Reisig commented the Lincoln Heights building report was fantastic, stating it is great to see the buy-in all across the District. Scott also mentioned the da Vinci Surgical System demonstration was a great opportunity for SBPS students and community members. Ralph Paez stated ReConnect students have been doing great things in the community, including delivering food through Meals on Wheels. Ralph commended the staff at ReConnect for their efforts.

Discussion:
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick shared Bluffs Middle School was named the Nebraska Career and Technical Education Outstanding Middle School Program of 2023 and extended his congratulations to Principal Jana Mason and staff. Dr. Dick remarked that SBPS takes great pride in the career pathways and academies available to all students. Dr. Dick stated this Board meeting's agenda contained 11 certificated staff hire recommendations, and expressed his appreciation to the principals, directors, and executive directors, as well as Darla Schlager, for the thoughtful, creative, and diligent work in recruiting and hiring highly qualified staff. Dr. Dick commented on the amazing learning experiences that SBPS was recently able to provide for students, which involved the demonstration of the da Vinci Surgical System. Dr. Dick thanked SHS Health Sciences teacher Jen Harre, Intuitive Surgical, Inc., and Dr. Hertzler and Regional West Medical Center for partnering with the District to bring this authentic, hands-on learning opportunity to SBPS students, as well as students from Western Nebraska Community College, Gering Public Schools, and members of the public. Dr. Dick also commented that this experience exposed students to not only the healthcare field, but also engineering, business, and other fields of interest. Dr. Dick concluded by sharing the SBPS 2022-2023 Annual Report has been released. Dr. Dick stated this effort was led by Director of Communications Melissa Price, and is an informative, high-quality publication that showcases the great work happening within our schools. Families and stakeholders can expect to receive this report by mail.
