3.1. Summer Activities-2014

3.2. Summer Curriculum

Summer Curriculum Requests

*Proposals had to align with the district and school improvement plans, building/district initiatives and goals, have merit as a research project, or encourage instructional innovation. 
*17 Staff Members have been approved for Summer Curriculum
*Proposals included:
      -Description and desired outcome of the proposal.
      -How the proposal supports the goals of the district.
      -How the proposal will impact classroom instruction and student achievement.
      -Evidence of Completion.

3.3. Update on the Approaches to Increasing Student Achievement Plan
*Plan was presented to the curriculum committee of the Board of Education this last Fall.

     -The Blair Community Schools’ Administrative Team has developed a multi-year plan to increase student achievement throughout the district. We are in the first phase of a cycle of planning, which is to develop a plan. Other phases include working the plan, evaluating the plan, and adjusting the plan. Some of the components are stand alone items and many of them are interconnected. This district approach is in addition to individual PDSA School Improvement Goals and is a combination of 1st and 2nd order changes for our district.

      -Timelines and the status of each component were recently reviewed and updated.

3.4. New Teacher Initial Meeting
*Purpose-Acclimate new staff to the district in an informal meeting atmosphere.
*Suggested Activities:
       -Master Schedule
       -Curriculum Maps
       -Receive laptops and iPads
       -Tour of the district
       -Meet their Mentor
3.5. SAT Process Update
*New SAT Program was implemented during the 2013/2014 school year.
     -Provide systematic, consistent approach to the SAT Process.
     -Provide for the transfer of SAT data from one grade level to the next and from one building to the next.
*Members of the committee to develop the plan met this Spring to review and revise the program.
