1. Student Fee Policy Hearing -

Rationale:  The public hearing on student fees is for the purpose of reviewing the amount of money collected from students in student fees pursuant to, and use of waivers provided in, the student fee policy and rule of the school district, for the 2018-2019 school year.
2. Parent Engagement and Title I Parent Engagement Policies Hearing -

Rationale:  Each year, the school district is required to conduct a public hearing in regard to the Parent Engagement and Title I Parent Engagement policies and explain ways the district encourages parents to become engaged in their children's educational program.

Rationale:  Each year, the Board of Education is asked to designate the Superintendent of the Kearney Public Schools to sign all claims and forms for all federal programs for the next school year.

5.H. Designate Kate Murphy and Chris Nelson as the Authorized Representatives of the Kearney Public Schools to Sign All Claims for Reimbursement, as well as all Federal, State, and Local Information Pertaining to the School Food Service Program, for the 2019-2020 School Year

Rationale:  The Meadowlark Elementary School Parent Advisory Committee has submitted its annual self-audit report for the 2018-2019 school year, for Board of Education consideration and acceptance.

6.A. Approval of Teacher Employment Recommendation
Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to approve the employment of the following teaching staff in the Kearney Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year:

Abigail Elgueta Figueroa, BA, Step 1, 1.00 special education teacher at Kearney High School (pending obtaining special education provisional certification).

Abigail earned her BA from UNK with endorsements in Speech and Theater 7-12.  She student taught at Kearney High School and Grand Island Northwest.  She will be a special education teacher in life skills at Kearney High School.

Rationale:  We have received this year's Board policy updates from legal counsel that are required due to changes in state law passed by the Nebraska Unicameral in the 2019 session and changes in federal law.  We will ask the Board of Education to consider and give first reading approval to the affected policies, to be effective for the 2019-2020 school year.
