Discussion:
Riley Ibero received a commendation from the Board for being recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as a Semifinalist.

9. Student Report

Discussion:
Elizabeth Roberts reported the last month was filled with success for Scottsbluff High School students. "Apply to College Day," held on October 4, was attended by over 70 students. The Math Club traveled to Colorado Springs, CO for the Soifer Math Olympiad on October 7 and had "great success." The Homecoming dance was held on Saturday, October 8 and had the largest turnout ever with over 550 students receiving tickets in advance. The girls softball team will be headed to the Nebraska State High School Softball Tournament and the girls golf team is doing well in their current tournament. Old West Band Fest is scheduled for next weekend and CTSO's have been attending leadership conferences throughout the fall. Elizabeth thanked the Board for their continued support and for providing students with all the opportunities that Scottsbluff High School has to offer.

Discussion:
Principal Ashlen Schaneman updated the Board on the progress of Lake Minatare's school year so far. She was joined by several staff members as well as multiple Lake Minatare families. Principal Schaneman stated the school has an amazing PTO and great community support. They recently implemented an accelerated reader program provided by the PTO. Currently the school is about to begin a stage renovation project and Aulick Industries will be donating a new sign and a new flag pole for the outside of the building. Staff members presented arts projects completed by students.

Dr. Wendy Kemling reported the District is currently hosting Erin Lavery from SPED Strategies for a two-day training session. Scottsbluff Public Schools is participating in NDE's pilot program for inclusionary strategies. Eighteen staff members from Bluffs Middle School and Longfellow Elementary are participating in order to learn new strategies and implement best practices within school buildings.

Dr. Dick reported that the first quarter is wrapping up with the end of the quarter less than two weeks away and parent-teacher conferences in a little over two weeks. He expressed how proud he is of all the individual academic achievements as well as team accolades that SBPS students are achieving and wished both the girls softball and girls golf teams good luck in their tournaments.
