2.B. Discuss, consideration and take all necessary action  to rescind previous Board of Education approval on October 8, 2018 for the KHS Band trip to Germany and the Czech Republic, scheduled for May 24-June 2, 2020
Rationale:  At its October 8, 2018 regular meeting, the Board of Education gave approval for the KHS Band trip to Germany and the Czech Republic scheduled for May 24-June 2, 2020.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Board of Education will need to rescind its previous action.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to rescind previous Board of Education approval on October 8, 2018 for the KHS Band trip to Germany and the Czech Republic, May 24-June 2, 2020
Action(s):
Move to rescind previous Board of Education approval on October 8, 2018 for the KHS Band trip to Germany and the Czech Republic, May 24-June 2, 2020 Angie - Difficult and easy decision for Board. Not being able to let kids go on trip for not to put them in harms way. Alex - Decision not without discussion with band directors. Doesnt mean they can't postpone it does it? They can come back next year and ask for approval again. We consulted with the person involved. It is a difficult stiation to rescind but propoer action given the circulstaiones we are in. Even onee of the school planned to visist will be closed. They won't get full eduational value from it. Dr. Edwards - from you heart and from what you know to be right in your midn.. Unwanted byproducts from COVID 19 and calcellation of spring sports and graduation. Think prudent on Board and adm. priortize those thigs. We have had to cancel or postpone other things. Most recent conversations with Two Rivers is that they have a lot of data and wisdom would be to take their aadvice and telling us without knowing that we should plan for days and weeks instead of months. We had chorl trip andw ell and making other plans as well. Wendy - As a band parent and past one, our students, staff and parents look forard to and near a d dear to my heart. I wat the parents and kids to understand our job as a board is protection of them and hope they realize that is why we are doing this. They have worked hard to rais money for it and know they wiill work with students on it. Apprecate the support from the band directors and the travel compnay.
