2.A. Recognition of KHS National DECA Competition Qualifier
Rationale:  Keona Koster, a member of the KHS DECA Club, has qualified for National DECA competition in Anaheim, Ca., April 24-28, 2013.  We will recognize her achievement.
2.B. Recognition of KHS HOSA Winners at HOSA State Leadership Conference
Rationale:  We will recognize the KHS HOSA members who qualified at the State Leadership Conference for national competition this summer.  Those qualifying are:  Brittany Weatherly in Medical Math, Allison Kuenning and Jennifer Knepke in Medical Spelling, Payton Cudaback and Claire Sickler in Career Health Display, Rebecca Rodriguez and Cassie Irwin in Human Growth and Development Test, Natalia Benavides in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Yuqing Lin and Cassie Irwin in Extemporaneous Poster.  These students are eligible to attend the National HOSA Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, June 25-30, 2013.  Fifteen KHS HOSA members participated in several workshops and competitions during the State Leadership Conference held March 27-28 at SCC in Lincoln. 
2.C. Recognition of KHS State Speech Contest Winners & Coach
Rationale:  We will recognize the following winners from KHS at the recent State Speech Contest:

Rationale:  Deb Eickhoff will give the Board of Education an update on the work of the TeamMates program in the Kearney Public Schools and the Kearney community.

Rationale:  President Higgins will announce that the 2013 "Evening of Excellence" banquet will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Kearney Ramada Inn to honor employees for their years of service, this year's retirees, and the Foundation award winners.  The evening begins with a social at 6:00, dinner at 6:30 P.M., followed by the program.

Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to grant permanent status to the qualifying probationary teaching staff in the Kearney Public Schools, for the 2013-2014 school year:  Amanda Amend, Jallyce Baughman, Michaela Brooks, Rachelle Chamberlain, Mary Dubas, Julie Everett, Tori Fiala, Brooke Iverson, Sarah Jones, Kristi Mattley, Meredith McLaughlin, Jo Slawski, Crystal Staley, Christine Suchsland, Janel Taylor, Tara Tracy, Kristin Vest, and Barbara Wegner.

Rationale:  We have one Kearney High School student, Keona Koster, who has qualified to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Ca., April 24-28, 2013.  Angie Fransk, business teacher and DECA advisor at Kearney High School, will be accompanying her to the conference.  We will ask the permission of the Board of Education for them to make this trip.

3.F. Approval of KHS HOSA Members Trip to National HOSA Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, June 25-30, 2013
Rationale:  The KHS HOSA members who have qualified  for the National HOSA Leadership Conference, June 25-203, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee, would like Board of Education permission to attend the Conference.

3.G. Approval of Revisions to the School District's 125 Flexible Benefits Plan
Rationale:  Norma Hledik is presenting revisions to the 125 Employee Benefit Plan for the employees of the Kearney Public Schools, that will take effect September 1, 2013 and contain wording to encompass the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  The ACA mandates that annual employee salary reductions to our Medical Expense Flexible Spending Account (FSA) not exceed $2,500.  The $2,500 amount will be indexed each year to reflect any anticipated cost of living adjustments as assigned by the IRS.  We will ask the Board of Education to approve these changes to our Plan documents.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to approve the changes in the Kearney Public Schools 125 Employee Flexible Benefits Plan documents, to take effect September 1, 2013.

Rationale:  We have received letters of resignation from Krista Wergin, 2nd grade teacher at Kenwood Elementary School; Jane Hohm, SPED resource teacher at Sunrise Middle School; Donica Heineman, 3rd grade teacher at Windy Hills Elementary School; Marie Sullivan, TLC teacher at Kenwood Elementary School; Merrie Nickel, vision specialist at Kearney High School; Loraine Lawler, district school psychologist; Christina Mendez, Spanish teacher at Kearney High School; Brandon Skocz, speech/language pathologist at Kearney High School; Jade Gilpin, 2nd grade teacher at Meadowlark Elementary School; and Megan Oxenreider, Spanish teacher at Kearney High School.  We will recommend that the Board of Education accept these resignations.
