2.A. Report on UNL Early Childhood Research Project
Rationale:  Kearney Public Schools has participated in a national research project with UNL for the past 2 years.  They are following students at KPS from preschool through grade 3.  Researchers observe in the classrooms and do interviews with our preschool through grade 3 teachers and collect data.  They would like to recognize KPS for their participation and share some preliminary information from the first year of the study.
2.B. Facilities Report
Rationale:  Kent Cordes from BD Construction will report on the progress of the Northeast Elementary School renovation and addition project.

4. Regular Agenda - Business
4.A. Acceptance of School Bus Bid
Rationale:  In August of this year, the district applied for a position of the Volkswagen Diesel Emissions Environmental Mitigation Trust.  The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality managed the Nebraska grants.  On August 17th, we received word that Kearney Public Schools will be awarded $57,000 toward a new propane bus.  The bus we will destroy to comply with the grant protocol is a 2003 Bluebird lift bus.  We received bids for the new propane bus from two vendors:

2020 Bluebird Vision
$121,850.00

Cornhusker International
2020 CE S Bus
$113,650.00

We are recommending the purchase of the bus from Cornhusker International.  The cost after the grant is $56,650.00. This will be a 42-passenger bus with 3 wheelchair locations, a rear side lift, and air conditioning.
