2.A. Recognition of 2019 State Class A Wrestling Champions Nick James and Phillip Moomey & Coaches
Rationale:  We will recognize the 2019 Class A state wrestling champions from Kearney High School - Phillip Moomey (132 lb. class) and Nick James (145 lb. class), as well as the KHS wrestling coaches.
2.B. Recognition of Michael Huebner, Class A State Runner-up in Diving at State Swim Meet & Coaches
Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to recognize Michael Huebner, KHS senior, who was the Class A State Runner-up in diving at the recent State Swim Meet.
2.C. KHS FFA Ag Issues Competition Presentation
Rationale:  The KHS FFA Chapter has asked to give a presentation to the Board of Education on the presentation they will make at the Ag Issues Competition at the State FFA Convention in April.  Prior to the competition, they are required to present to several groups in the community.
2.D. Recognition of Dr. Carol Renner, Recipient of SSWAN "Friend of School Social Work" Award
Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to recognize Dr. Carol Renner, Director of Student Services, for being named a "Friend of School Social Work"
by the State Social Workers Association of Nebraska.
2.E. Facilities Report
Rationale:  Kent Cordes from BD Construction will report to the Board of Education on progress being made on the Northeast Elementary School construction and renovation project.

Rationale:  The Board Finance Committee and members of the Administration interviewed 2 firms for the position of Construction Manager-at-Risk for the Kearney High School and Sunrise Middle School construction and renovation projects.  The committee is recommending the selection of BD Construction for this work.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to approve the employment of BD Construction to serve as the Construction Manager-at-Risk for the Kearney High School and Sunrise Middle School construction and renovation projects.

4.B. Notice of Settlement of Claim
Rationale:  Joseph and Leslie Weller, on behalf of Chloe Weller, asserted a claim for damages arising from injuries Chloe Weller sustained resulting from an accident that occurred on December 19, 2015.  Kearney Public Schools reached a settlement agreement with Joseph and Leslie Weller and Chloe Weller for a settlement amount of $97,500 in exchange for a full release of liability. Since this agreement is over $50,000, as required by law, it needs to be approved by the Board of Education.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to approve the personal injury settlement with Joseph and Leslie Weller and Chloe Weller, under the terms and conditions stipulated in said settlement agreement.

Rationale:  We have received letters of resignation from: Natalie Madsen, social studies teacher at Kearney High School; Michael Heuertz, vocal music teacher at Horizon Middle School; Kari Vyhlidal, theater teacher at Kearney High School; Angie Fransk, Director of Career and College Readiness; Scot Fransk, business teacher at Kearney High School; Emily DeVall, 8th grade science teacher at Horizon Middle School; and Kyle Drake, 6th grade science teacher at Sunrise Middle School; as well as retirement resignations from: Deb Fast, kindergarten teacher at Central Elementary School; Deb Schauer, special education teacher at Horizon Middle School; and Cindy Klein, math teacher at Kearney High School.  We will ask the Board of Education to accept these resignations and retirement resignations, with regret, effective the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to approve the employment of Chelsea Feusner as Director of K-5 Education for the Kearney Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year.  The position was originally announced as Director of Student Affairs; however, due to a recent vacancy of another district-level administrative position, the district has the opportunity to reorganize responsibilities for those Cabinet positions to better serve the district.

Kent - Approeciate the input of the Board and these changes. Part of growth it is importnat to meet thos eneds and her versatility that allow us to make these chanes. Also you approved the resignation of Angie Fransk and in doing that we can address the strong pillar of career and college readiness in the SP. She is in a dual role right now and fill her shoes at GH task also. Alex - Enjoyed the comments of the parents. gerrchallenge and know yo will meet it.
