2.A. Recognition of Katie Philpot, Special Olympics World Games Gold and Silver Medal Winner
Rationale:  Katie Philpot, KHS sophomore, earned two gold medals and two silver medals in the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi and Dubai recently.  We will recognize Katie for her accomplishments.
2.B. Recognition of Grace Clark, KHS State Speech Runner-up
Rationale:  We will recognize KHS student, Grace Clark, for being the Class A State Runner-up in Humorous Interpretation at the State Speech Contest.
2.C. Recognition of Shiloh Robinson, Omaha World Herald Class A Boys' Basketball 1st Team and Kearney Hub "Player of the Year" recipient.
2.D. Recognition of KHS HOSA State Conference Champions
Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to recognize the following KHS HOSA State Conference 1st place winners:

Alaina Schoone - 1st in Outstanding Chapter
Haley Kollars - 1st in Nursing Assisting


 
2.E. National School Boards Association Annual Education Conference Follow-up Report
Rationale:  Board of Education members who attended the NSBA 2019 Annual Education Conference will report on the sessions they attended at the conference.
2.F. Facilities Report
Rationale:  Kent Cordes of BD Construction will report on the progress being made on the Northeast Elementary School construction and renovation project.

2.H. Announcement of 2019 "Celebration of Excellence" Reception
Rationale:  We would like to announce that the 2019 "Celebration of Excellence" Reception will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. in the Loper Hall at the Kearney Holiday Inn to honor employees for their years of service, the Foundation award winners, and this year's retirees.  Tickets for the event may be obtained online or in person at the Kearney Public Schools Foundation Office.  The cost is $20.00.  The public is welcome to attend.

I understood that we were waiting to see if raised grant funds before w spend money. Tori - We will go ahead with it next year without doing the programming so that is out of communications and are the big yard letters. Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to approve the KHS FFA Chapter trip to the National FFA Convention, October 29 through November 2, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN.  Eight students and two sponsors will make the trip.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to approve the KHS FFA Chapter trip to the National FFA Convention, October 29-November 2, 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana, with no direct cost incurred by the school district.

Rationale:  We have received letters of resignation from: Lori Romatzke, 5th grade teacher at Emerson Elementary School; Emily Drake, 2nd grade teacher at Emerson Elementary School; Grace Watson, .05 Title I reading teacher; Jennifer Sinnard, speech/language pathologist at Kearney High School; Joe Wiechman, 5th grade teacher at Windy Hills Elementary School; and Barton Cron, special education resource teacher at Kearney High School; as well as the retirement resignation of Connie Jelkin, librarian at Park and Emerson Elementary Schools.  We will ask the Board of Education to accept these resignations, with regret, effective the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

Kathy - with the new restructing for K-5 and 6_12 is a new ball game for everyone and to make those chanes. K-5 be mostly in charge of early childhood education and 6-12 mainly in charge of college and career readiness. Those are still pillars in our strategic plan. Alex - Was a unique year for us and we needed to address some of our long term planning and this will allow us to do that. I know the amount of time a lot of people and you and Jasonhave put into this esp. with college and career and our strateig plan and appreciate the cont. inv. into KEC.
